Mid-February will mark the second annual Egri Borok Gálája (Eger Wines’ Gala). This event, a brainchild of Egri Borvidékért Alapítvány (Foundation for the Eger Wine-region), is another milestone for the Eger wine-region on its road to recognition.

The New Year’s first wine tasting on January 17, 2008, once again, has attracted so many wine-lovers that Monarchia’s Kinizsi Street wineshop, the regular location to hold our wine-tastings, turned out not spacious enough. Therefore, our Monarchia Wine Club members along with the representatives of the press were hosted in UPC’s café, which houses a larger capacity.
Dr. Tamás Pók to receive the Tibor Gál Memorial Award
On December 29, 2007, Hotel Eger was host to the 7th Egri Borszalon (Eger Wine Salon), an annual event organized by the Egri Bormíves Céh (Eger Winemakers Guild), which featured the finest wines by 22 winemakers from across the Eger wine region.
Clinton’s Gala Dinner
Organized by the Central European Business Centre in honor of former US president Bill Clinton, the exclusive gala business dinner, looked forward to as „the event of the decade”, held in the Sofitel Budapest Hotel on October 6, 2007, featured Monarchia wines.

A kind of... Gábor Herendi
Wine starred in a feature film for the first time in Hungary. The excellent film director, Gábor Herendi, after Valami Amerika (A kind of... America) and Magyar Vándor (Hungarian Vagabond), surprised audiences with a new creation. In Lora we encounter yet unharnessed directorial qualities of Herendi. Monarchia also participated in the production of the film.
