This year’s Egri Bikavér Festival

This year more people visited Eger than ever before to attend the traditional Egri Bikavér Festival on St. Donat’s Day.

The Dobó Square was already full on Friday, where 30 winemakers presented their Egri Bikavérs in altogether 14 tents accompanied by well-known chefs’ dishes. The three-day-festival was opened by the major of Eger, László Habis, which was followed by exciting programs all weekend long. It was a pleasure to see that the number of foreign tourists is increasing year by year.
The 2002 Egri Bikavér of the Monarchia Winery was served with a deer stew in red wine cooked in a cauldron with special Hungarian gnocchi and wild mushrooms and prepared by the Forst-House and Restaurant. Our wine-dish pairing received a special award by the Eger Wine Ladies Club.
We would like to thank our kind visitors who praised our 2002 Egri Bikavér! Although the wine is only available since April, the demand for it is growing bigger and bigger. We hope you will like it too!
